BIO

My name is Maxim Prikhodko. I was born in Moscow, Russia on November, 19th, 1980. I started my school in 1987 when I was 6 years old. Also in 1987 I entered musical school and started to learn how to play piano. I graduated my musical school with all highest marks 7 years later. During my schooling I learned ballroom dances and managed to graduate from E level to D level. E level is the lowest one in sport ballroom dances.

In 1996 I graduated my school with gold medal and entered Moscow State University. I was only 15 years old and I had a piano. I played it from time to time and kept my dream to become a member of a band, but I didn’t deal with music professionally until third course in University, when I bought my first synthesizer, Korg N5. This was like being in heaven, I spent hours with my computer and synthesizer to understand them both better. It took about a year to start understanding them good enough to produce music. But nevertheless my technical skills were awful, that’s why my first tunes were naive I think. God thank my friends that were with me all the way, their support forced me to keep trying and trying.

When I was on fifth course I gave my synthesizer away to the friend of mine, because I spent to much time writing music and I needed time to write my diploma to graduate from University. So I gave it away for 9 months! But 3 months later I realized that I just can’t stop making music, and started to write rhythm sections, using bass lines and drums I had. That half a year I learnt more about music than in two previous years. And when I got my synthesizer back I was ‘hungry’. I graduated from Moscow State University and I started to make music.

First tunes were much better than a year ago, but lack of practice still influenced them. It was not now a huge problem because now I had much more time to spend on writing music. Not long before I met my good friend and musician Andrew from Estonia. His band Naughty Faces needed music and I presented my first decent track to him for free. Later the tune made with this music became a real hit in Estonia, Estonian television even broadcasted the clip shoot for this song. In addition I started to produce some beats for Naughty Faces, and this was a great practice for me too.

In 2001 I started my first job and had a lot of free time in spite of post-graduate study I entered in Moscow State University. This time I decided to dedicate to music and break dancing. These were my strongest passions. Track was followed by a track and I started to upload them into internet to let my friends all over the world to listen to them. My dream to become a member of a band came true. I played on keyboard with alternative group Raven. We hardly rehearsed to prepare out first songs.

On March 8th, 2002, we had our first performance in small Moscow club ‘Friday’. This was our first but not the last one. We had 5 performances in several Moscow clubs: ‘Tochka’, ‘Matrix’, ‘U-2’, ‘Estakada’. We recorded our first song and published it on the CD called ‘Alternative. v. 1.0’, released by SOYUZ. Then I realized that my own carrier needs more time and I began to spend more time on my electronic music than on our group.

This was the time when I felt with new strength the lack of hard electronic sounds in my synthesizer. All my staff sounded too smooth, even if I tried to produce anything hard. I needed some new source of sound and I’ve found it in my computer. I’ve tried several soft-synthesizers and started my experiments with them. First soft-synthesizers I ever met were Pro-53 and FM7. Huge influence by their sounds inspired me to produce my first almost totally ‘soft’ track ‘first approachement’. Its title says that this was my first experience in dealing with soft-synthesizers. And it was not the worst one definitely.

Then I began to improve my skills in using software synthesis. I always wanted to produce dance music, and my Korg like sound was not ‘hard’ enough for real ass-shaking dance music. But now I got stuff to solve this problem. So I started to experiment with different kinds of dance music, especially breakbit, house and trance.

Now I finished my first album and about to start my work on the future projects. I hope this will be even more interesting than all I have already done.
